Our Journey into preventing payment fraud

Certra was born from a simple but urgent realization: payment fraud thrives in the gaps between trust and verification. We saw businesses and clients exposed—relying on outdated checks, vulnerable processes, and one-sided protection. So we built Certra to close that gap. Our mission is to secure two-way transactions with real-time validation that’s simple, scalable, and frictionless. No portals for clients. No complexity. Just certainty—before money moves.

2023 - Certra is hatched

Born out of necessity from seeing large scale payment fraud on the rise in SA, Certra is designed was designed specifically to protect everyday clients and the businesses they interact with.

2024 Patent, Prototype and Team

The first prototype was developed, and the team scaled up to build a production version. Certra ran a few Beta tests, to get feedback and refine the use cases in practice. The Certra Provisional Patent is file.

2025 Certra is Live

Certra early support release is launched, and client feedback is positive. Certra caught and prevented it's first fraud cases withing weeks of launching

Onwards and upwards

Certra is currently scaling up to larger and more clients, protecting industries across the spectrum, from legal and advisory, to trade and professionals.
